PLEASE NOTE: The Columbia College Literary Review will be on hiatus for the 2020-2021 academic year and will not accept submissions until our next open reading period begins on August 15, 2021.
General Guidelines
We accept unsolicited submissions.
Submissions are only accepted during our open submission period, normally August 15-February 1.
All submissions must be previously unpublished. We do accept simultaneous submissions; please write to us immediately if your work is accepted elsewhere. Our standard response time is 1-2 months, and sometimes sooner, during our reading period. Please wait to hear back from us before sending more work.
Prose
Short stories and essays should be no more than 5000 words. We will consider exceptional flash fiction and micro-essays, as well as genre work only if it expands upon genre conventions. Flash fiction and micro-essays should be no more than 800 words, and please do not submit more than 3 pieces at a time. Excerpts from book-length manuscripts must be self-contained. Please submit double-spaced, professionally formatted prose.
Poetry
Up to 6 poems per submission.
Please send all poems in a single document.
ArtworkArtwork must be photographed with minimum 300 dpi of your work.
Digital art must be attached as a vector format (.ai, .eps) or rasterized (.jpg, .tif, .psd). Create outlines or rasterize all text layers, if present.
All artwork is subject to cropping at the discretion of the Design Editor for layout purposes. If you do not wish to allow your work to be cropped in any way, please note this in your cover letter.
